Over Seeding
Over seeding is one of the most important lawn care applications, yet few, if any
other lawn companies ever do it. They think if they fertilise the lawns, why do
I need to add new seed?
You may be surprised that some premier league football pitches are replaced
every season. Why do this especially when they look pretty good week after week.
The answer is simply that grass is not immortal. After five or six years, the grass
plant's reproduction rate slows down; they get tired, just like we do as we age.
Thin grass invites weeds.
Annual over seeding compensates for that natural slow down of the turf's reproduction.
There are two major benefits to over seeding every three or four years. Firstly,
you insure your lawn stays thick and dense, or if it has thinned, you will make
it thick once again. Thick grass will have few weeds if cut at the right height.
The second benefit is disease resistance.
Lawn Master can use a variety of methods to overseed your lawn.

The best time to over seed is after scarification or you can have a specific over
seed carried out by drill seeding.
We also use pre-seed fertiliser to optimise germination.
There have been significant developments in turfgrass seed breeding in recent years.
The new varieties of seed you sow this year will have improved disease resistance
than the varieties already present in your lawn. We use seed that is:
- Drought resistant.
- Shade tolerant.
- A perfect match for your existing lawn grass type.
